What is fire clay brick?

Refractory clay bricks refer to commodities with a long history as refractory products. When referring to products, it refers to materials that can still work in an environment with a temperature higher than 1580°C without losing strength. Refractory clay brick is an economical refractory brick because its cost is much lower than that of high alumina brick. Although the cost of refractory clay bricks is very low, it has many excellent functions like high alumina bricks.

Where can I buy fire clay bricks?

China is a big country with a large amount of refractory minerals, which is the key reason why refractory bricks are so cheap in China. Many countries in China are providing refractory bricks. Among them, LAURENT NEW MATERIALS is the leader. For two decades, LAURENT NEW MATERIALS has been doing very well in China's refractory industry. We have four sophisticated factories that produce large quantities of refractory bricks every month. Our hardworking workers and skilled technicians are determined to overcome every difficult task provided by our customers. Our sales company can provide customers with quality after-sales service and create the best business experience.

Properties of fire clay bricks

Refractory clay brick is a weak acid refractory product. It can resist acid slag and gas. The resistance of alkaline substances is relatively poor. The bricks have good thermal properties and good rapid quenching properties.

Fire clay brick composition

Refractory clay brick is an aluminate silicate refractory material. The key component of high temperature resistance in refractory bricks is alumina (30% to 40% of the total alumina). Refractory clay bricks are made of 50% soft clay and 50% hard clay.

The main mineral components of refractory clay bricks are:

Kaolinite (Al2O3•2SiO2•2H2O)

And 6%~7% foreign matter (including potassium, sodium, calcium, titanium, iron oxides)

Manufacturing process of fire-resistant clay brick

This is the process of making refractory clay bricks. Choose raw materials according to the particle size. Then the particles are mixed with other substances according to the scientific composition. After molding and drying, the material is sent to the oven and heated to 1300~1400°C to complete the production process.
During the heating process, kaolinite continuously loses water and decomposes into mullite crystals (3Al2O3•2SiO2). In this process, SiO2 and Al2O3 react with other additives to form eutectic eutectic silicate, and the reactant will be wrapped around the mullite crystal.

Refractory clay refractory brick VS silicate refractory brick
The melting point of refractory clay refractory bricks is almost the same as that of silicate refractory bricks, between 1690 and 1730°C.

However, the refractoriness of refractory clay is lower than that of silicate brick by more than 200°C. This is because in addition to high melting point mullite crystals, some amorphous glass phases with low melting points account for half of the total composition.
